Working as the Earthworks Subcontractor to Team Van Oord, Kelston Sparkes completed this Environment Agency funded coastal management project in September 2014.
The Steart project was the UK’s biggest ever coastal realignment scheme and was a joint project between WWT and Environment Agency.
The Steart Point Peninsula Project has received the 2013 Environment Agency Exemplar Award for Health, Safety & Environment. This award is made annually to only one project, and if no project is deemed suitable, the award is not made; as such, it is extremely difficult to secure.
Gary Haley, from the Environment Agency construction SH&E team, said: “The consistently high safety, health and environmental standards the project team has shown while dealing with so many constraints made this project stand out, and deserve this award.”
