The works include large scale material import, to achieve the levels required to align with the new 140m long bridge structure crossing the valley and remodelling of the existing highway infrastructure. Including general earthworks and structural backfill.
Construction of 10.5m high precast concrete RECO walling to the bridge abutments. 340m of Reinforced Earth retaining wall construction to 5m high, along the existing water course on Forder Valley South.
The project also involved the excavation of a 44,000m3 Pond, much of which was in hard rock which involved ripping, breaking and procession of the rock so it could be incorporated into the works.
